Site Build It! Diaries, Day Six, Part 2
I might have to break away from this series for a little while, at least for awhile. There are ten "days" in Site Build it, but Day 6 is all about creating all those pages of content. Today I created my first "Tier 2" page. I'm not sure it looks right and I'm hoping I don't have to delete it and start all over, but for today I'm leaving it. I think I mixed up something while making a fix, but I did get "analyze it" working. My home page is probably not great for spiders and that might need some alterations too. Then again I'm ADAMANT about writing for humans, NOT spiders. I understand good keywords are...good. I get that. But I also want the human beings to come to my site and not go crazy.
For example, "home based business franchise" would have been a great keyword for this site. Imagine if I went through every blog post trying to figure out how to incorporate the words "home based business franchise" 10 times. "Your home based business franchise...when you choose a home based business franchise..." Eventually you'd go crazy and figure out that yes, I was writing for spiders and not for you after all.
Then again, SBI knows what it's doing. People are getting very successful and making full time livings just updating site content alone. I did a page of content tonight in about an hour. Perhaps I should get over my prejudice? It's the writer in me that wrinkles my nose every time I find a writing piece that gets repetitive and "keywordish." I can tell and it makes me mad.
That said, I now have 28 more days of content to write before I can even consider going on to Day 7, because all this writing is happening at Day 6. So we'll take a break from me telling you about my SBI adventures for awhile. I am beginning to see what I might do with it when I do a second site for my freelance writing business; before I hadn't been sure what to put on one of those besides my testimonials.
In the meantime, I'm going to do another series. This series is going to be all about how to make a living from home using Elance.com and sites similar to it. This is something I've been doing for awhile, so the upside is you won't have to wait for me to figure it out as I go along, like I've been doing with SBI.
Besides, this isn't the All SBI, All The Time Blog, it's the Home of Home Business Blog, and it's important to offer up other options to read, I think.
